Walter on ballot for District 9 board seat
Green County Board

MONROE — With the Spring election around the corner, citizens in the 9th district will have a new choice on the ballot — Amy Jo Walter of Monroe.

Walter comes with a strong background in leadership and professional roles. Following a distinguished career as a firefighter/paramedic, she held a teaching position with the University of Illinois, Illinois Fire Service Institute. After retiring and fully committing herself to Green County, she has become involved in many volunteer roles from building sets for the Monroe Theater Guild, building a “little free pantry” for Thrift & Thrive that serves members of the community, to being a member of the Monroe Lions Club and many others. Her dedication to the county can find her taking tickets at the fair, painting faces for parks and recreation — even “grinching” for the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

Walter wants to provide a voice for District 9, bringing a personal perspective to the decision-making process, bringing awareness to the underserved elderly population, and asking the tough questions during board meetings. “Make it make sense,” is what she says she will demand. “Using taxpayer’s money on nonsense items cannot be tolerated.”

She adds: “I look forward to being able to directly influence our local government and adequately represent my district on decisions that directly affect us.”

The election is April 7.
