Green County moves to Badger Book electronic poll book system
Green County moves to Badger Book electronic poll book system

Elections in 2026 may look a little different in some Green County polling places as some municipalities begin moving to electronic pollbook software called Badger Books.

Badger Books was developed by the Wisconsin Elections Commission in 2017.

The software is specific to Wisconsin election practices and statutes, and it is the only electronic poll book software created with direct WisVote (statewide voter management system) integration.

Badger Books does not use an internet connection and is primarily used to check in voters, to register voters on Election Day, and to process absentee ballots.

Badger Books maintains the voter number and count independent of election inspector input, providing efficiency and accuracy.

After Election Day, a data file generated from Badger Books is used to upload election participation and Election Day Registration information into WisVote.

Badger Books are intended to make both the Election Day check in and registration process as well as post-election data entry and reconciliation more efficient and accurate.

The Green County Badger Book pilot program was funded using county ARPA funds.
