MONROE — A longtime Monroe resident and current Monroe Common Council alder, Corinne Wartenweiler, has filed nomination papers to run for mayor of Monroe in the Feb. 17 election.

As a councilwoman for three years, her voting record has been consistently based on what was best for the city and the taxpayers, she said.

Wartenweiler said she believes growth to the city is vital. That expansion, however, should be tailored to the current economic climate within and around the city. Some of the problems facing Monroe today are higher taxes, low median income, and limited low-cost housing. Wartenweiler believes the mayor can set the tone for focusing on these problems.

Working on the council has made her familiar with all the various departments and how city government works.

Professionally, she has been involved in the medical field for over 35 years as an RN and currently specializes in Independent Practice Nursing and Respiratory care.

As a wife, mother and grandmother, Wartenweiler is concerned about the spiritual and social climate of the country and the community and believes that a Biblical world view helps her to make sense of the world and find appropriate answers and helpful solutions.

Politically she describes herself as, “a little right of center.”

She urges residents to vote in order to get the best representation for the community. The election is set for Tuesday, Feb. 17.
