FREEPORT — The Senior Resource Center is able to offer a safety net for seniors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to the Freeport Community Foundation and United Way of Northwest Illinois. The two organizations joined forces to establish a Northwest Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund.
The Senior Resource Center’s Safety Net for Seniors Program was awarded $7,500 through United Way of Northwest Illinois to help older individuals in Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties. The program will provide increased access to emergency food and household supplies, utility assistance, direct financial assistance for unplanned household expenses, short-term rental or mortgage support, transportation assistance for out-of-county medical appointments and personal protective equipment for staff.
Seniors who need assistance should call 815-235-9777 or visit seniorresourcecenter.net.
