Monroe Clinic reports that, for now, it has enough supplies and capacity to care for patients.

MONROE — In order to promote the safety of patients, healthcare workers and the community, hospital visits at Monroe Clinic have been suspended effective March 21. This is a temporary measure in response to the spread of COVID-19. The full policy can be found at: https://www.monroeclinic.org/coronavirus.

Visitors over age 16 may still be allowed in the following circumstances:

● Compassionate care - exceptions can be made in end-of-life situations or when a visitor is essential for the patient’s emotional well-being and care;

● Family Birthplace patients will be allowed one visitor, with permission of nursing leader;

● Patients in pediatric settings will be allowed one visitor, with permission of nursing leader

If a visitor meets criteria under the new guidelines, they will be asked to complete a health screening, including temperature. Anyone with a positive exposure to COVID-19 or elevated temperature will not be allowed entry without approval by an administrative supervisor. Vendors and contractor visits are also suspended at this time unless prior approval was granted.

The Blanchardville location, 309 S. Main St., has temporarily closed. Patients will be contacted to reschedule upcoming appointments.

Effective March 23, Monroe Clinic hours will be restricted to 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. No weekend hours will be offered at this time. This does not impact FastCare or Urgent Care hours. Patients and visitors will be asked to complete a health screening prior to appointments. Those who have a lab appointment prior to 7:30 a.m. will need to use the main hospital entrance. As of March 23, Monroe Clinic’s Optical Retail Shops at both the Monroe and Freeport locations will be closed until further notice. The optical shop team will contact guests with pending orders to determine the best way to deliver contacts or glasses.

Effective immediately, as a proactive measure, Monroe Clinic has decided to temporarily postpone screening imaging exams, including walk-in screening appointments at all Monroe Clinic locations until further notice. This includes screening mammograms, bone density studies, lung cancer screening CTs and CT Cardiac Calcium Scorings. Care teams are reaching out to affected patients.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, and schedules will be reassessed on an ongoing basis.
