This is a postcard photo from 1916 Cheese Days, two years after the initial event in 1914. At first, the celebration of cheese lasted only one day. The caption on the photo reads, in English, “Which one is the most beautiful group of the Bernese girls on Cheese Day, Monroe, Wis. Oct. 10, 1916.” It is written in the Swiss-German dialect.
