CELEBRATING OUR PAST: October 9, 2024
Old Photo

This 1890s southeast view of our courthouse clock tower shows wires with the first electric streetlights hanging from them. Note the power pole in the upper right hand of the photo. Another photo of the northwest intersection of the square also shows a hanging fixture. Also notice the horses around the inside of the square and the dirt road with wooden sidewalk.

A few upcoming events on the calendar for 2025:

●  Oct. 19 — Together with Main Street Monroe, participating in the Art Walk with artist Mona Knoke at the museum.

●  Nov. 3 — Fundraising Breakfast at Moose Lodge; all-you-can-eat breakfast.

●  Nov. 7 — Trivia Night at Cactus & Co.

●  Nov. 22-23, 29-30 — Annual Christmas Décor Sale.

The Historical Museum has closed for the 2024 season, but wants to thank all visitors and volunteers for a great summer season with its newly reorganized displays in the upper level open. Check gcwihs.org for membership levels.
