The Articles of Co-partnership to become a cheese factory were drafted and signed Feb 1894. Co-partners were Patrick O Meara, B Voegeli, Herman Schmerse, Gottfried Waefler, John and Maurice Teehan. In 1911, the factory was listed under the name of Teehan and Schmerse, with owner/mgr listed as Alex Bandi and Fred Bier (Beer) as cheesemaker. The factory’s name was changed again and became known as the Buckskin Hollow Cheese Factory and other cheesemakers to follow were John Meier, Jr. and Anton Portman. The factory closed in the early 1930s and was converted to a residence. It burned to the ground in 1935 taking the life of Fred Tschabold, while other tenants escaped without injury.
