The first Monticello Homecoming was held September 1937 and was sponsored by the Monticello Businessman’s Club. This one day event was held at the location of the present school site. Music, baseball, bicycle races and airplane rides were some of the entertainment. Admission was adults 25 cents and children 15 cents. It was a big success and became an annual affair except during World War II. Today, Monticello Homecoming is held in July and sponsored by the Monticello Community Club, the Village of Monticello and the Monticello Chamber of Commerce. The annual Homecoming is the main fundraiser for projects that better Monticello.
