An interesting 1950s photo of clearing snow from 17th Avenue just south of the square. Graders have moved snow to the center and a machine with a conveyor belt scoops up the snow and it falls into a dump truck to be hauled away. Center right is the Goetz Theater building. The Historical Society is reorganizing and creating new displays. They are building a collection of 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s memorabilia. They are especially looking for donations of items from these years, an aluminum Christmas tree, poodle skirt, penny loafers, portable record player, portable tube TV with rabbit ears, MHS letter jacket/uniforms and other MHS items (they have a collection of M-books). Also looking for a barber pole. Call Linda Lostetter 608-558-0175. Before tossing away old items from your home, the GCHS asks local citizens to consider donating the item(s) to the museum. - Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society
