The Monroe Common Council voted to purchase a “Flivver squad” in 1931 for the Monroe Police Department. The two-door Ford Model T Sedan, sometimes called a “flivver” was purchased for $499.62 and was the first car the department had before previously using a motorcycle. The car was to be dark, appropriately lettered in gold and with a siren.
