Valentines Day

Happy Valentine’s Day from the 1920s. This Valentine’s Day card is from the collection of Edith May Leuenberger memorabilia housed at the Green County Historical Society. Edith May was a waitress at the Waffle Shop in Monroe and discovered to be the “prettiest salesgirl”. She was plucked from Monroe and taken to New York City where she became part of the Zigfield dance and show troupe. She also starred in movies. Stop in for more information on Edith May. The Historical Museum is closed for the winter season, but continue to need volunteers. Contact Linda Lostetter at lostetter68@gmail.com, call 608-324-4676 or a note to PO Box 804, Monroe. The museum continues to try to fill out its “Retro” display. Donated items needed are a transistor radio, portable record player, a colorwheel for an aluminum Christmas tree or items from 1950s to present.
