With the donation of this beautiful 1950s aluminum Christmas tree, the Green County Historical Society (GCGS) is now looking for the colorwheel that accompanied all the trees. GCGS exists by volunteer help and donations for operational and event expenses. This year its has been open through the summer on weekend afternoons charging no admission, it also was represented at Trivia Night at Cactus & Co; Main Street’s Wine Walk, City Wide rummage sale, Farmer’s Market on the square, Art Walk and an “Airing of the Quilts” presentation of vintage quilts. GCGS served breakfast at the Moose Lodge and held a very successful Holiday Décor sale. Members want to thank all those who attended and made donations for those events. After being closed for two years, the upstairs is newly reorganized and with a self-guided tour brochure, easier for guests to peruse the exhibits. Not to be forgotten is its selection of Monroe historical books, which could make a wonderful gift for history buffs and anyone growing up in Monroe. Contact Linda Lostetter 608-558-0175 or go to the Society’s website gcwihs.org or Google Green County Historical Society for more information. Tax deductible donations may be sent to Green County Historical Society, PO Box 804, Monroe, Wisconsin.
