Kevin Winkler, Monroe, talks about his best friend Jaeger, a 2-year-old wirehaired pointing griffon.
Winkler and his wife Kris had a springer spaniel for 14 years. After that, they decided they wouldn’t have any more dogs. However, when Winkler retired, he convinced his wife to let him get another dog so he would have a friend around during the day. He picked out Jaeger from a breeder in northern Wisconsin because of his outgoing personality. “We’re like best buddies,” Winkler said. “We’re tied at the hip.”
Describe Jaeger’s personality.
He’s very friendly. He’s a people type dog. He loves to be around people all the time. He’s an energetic dog. He does a lot of running around. He listens most of the time really well. He’s really vocal and likes to talk. He likes other animals and dogs.
What do you and Jaeger like to do together?
He’s going with me for daily chores and we’ll go to town together. He’ll do field work with me and ride in the tractor. He even rides with me on the lawnmower. He enjoys going pheasant hunting with me.
What has it been like having Jaeger in your life?
I don’t know what I’d do without him. We hang out all day long. He goes everywhere with me.
