Joyce Richardson of Monroe talks about her cat Harley. She believes Harley is roughly ten years old and a Maine Coon cat. Harley was a stray kitten in the neighborhood that Joyce lived in. Joyce saw him and thought he was beautiful, so she rescued him. Originally she wanted to name him Mittens, but her grandchildren insisted that she name him Harley because of his purring, which sounded like a Harley motorcycle. Over the years Harley has been great company to Joyce.
What do you love most about your companionship?
He’s a lot of company. We’re always there for each other. He always jumps up to be pet.
What is Harley’s personality like?
He’s curious. He looks out for himself. He goes by the door but he never goes out.
What do you like to do together?
I like to pet him and I brush him. We play with the light. He comes up on my lap every night in the chair to be pet.
What has it been like having Harley in your life?
Good times. He’s always home waiting for me. He missed Buttons when I had to give him up, and so did I. I always had somebody to come home too.
