Amelia Brunner, Monroe, talks about her best friend Jorge, a 3-year-old husky-German shepherd mix.
Heartbroken after her previous dog died, Brunner said she went to the Green County Humane Society to try to fill the hole left in her heart. Brunner said she immediately fell in love with Jorge’s intake photo. Once she had met Jorge, Brunner was hooked.
“It was almost like he picked me,” Brunner said.

Describe Jorge’s personality.
He’s very clumsy. I’ve never had a clumsier dog. He bonks his head a lot and sometimes falls off my bed. He follows me all over the house. He’s very afraid of strangers and has to get to know people first before he can trust them. He’s also super strong.
What do you and Jorge like to do together?
We like to go for walks. He loves to go for a ride in the car, especially my dad’s truck. We just like spending the days together snuggling. We spend a lot of time outside and he loves to chase things. We play fetch. I try to wear out as much of his energy as I can.
What’s it been like having Jorge in your life?
It’s been wonderful. I love him so much. If I’m having a bad day or crying for some reason he’s right here by my side. He makes me happy every day I get up. When I ask him for kisses, he gives me kisses.
