MADISON - Mackenzie Zanow, Monticello, was awarded a scholarship from the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was one of 63 incoming first-year students to receive a scholarship and/or prize.
Zanow was awarded the Francis E. and Catherine Lamboley Scholarship, a need-based, one-time award for an incoming freshman, with preference given to students from Green County.
Awards, which will apply to the 2015-16 academic year, were granted on the basis of high school achievements, including academic excellence, extracurricular participation, community service, financial need and other factors. First-year Letters and Science scholarships are highly competitive, and only four to five percent of the applicant pool typically receives an award.
