Registration for the 3rd Annual World Euchre Championship opened this past week, and over 180 players signed up within the first 24 hours. Set for May 17-18, the tournament draws players from across the country, including Texas, Colorado, and Maryland. Open to local players, too, the event features Euchre enthusiasts from many different backgrounds and skill levels. Held at the New Glarus Fest Haus, the event has become a significant fundraiser for New Glarus Cares, a nonprofit dedicated to helping improve the New Glarus community.
This year’s tournament introduces an expanded doubles competition and a singles format where participants are pitted against everyone in the room. “We’re excited to welcome players back,” said Shelly Johnson, President of New Glarus Cares. “This event strengthens our community and supports local projects.”
The championship is supported by Bicycle Cards, the leading U.S. playing card manufacturer, and features open Euchre games at local establishments on Friday and Saturday evenings. “The schedule allows visitors more time to explore New Glarus, boosting local businesses while supporting a great cause,” said Johnson.
New Glarus Cares is also seeking sponsors and food vendors to feed hungry players during the tournament. To get involved or register, visit the New Glarus Cares website at
