NEW GLARUS - Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus will host the World Community Day program at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, presented by Church Women United of Green County. The event theme is "God's Wisdom Sets Us Free."
Rev. Petra Streiff, pastor of Swiss UCC, will be the main speaker. The program is open to all and refreshments will be served by ladies of the host church.
"This World Community Day celebration explores how we can reach out with God's wisdom and love to those behind bars, whether made of steel or of human limitations," Mary Lou Stuessy, Monroe, event coordinator for the local CWU Unit, said. "Taking a look at the 'Golden Rule' as exemplified in different religions gives us an opportunity to look at our commonalities, rather than our differences."
Personal items for residents of Green Haven will be gathered at the service.
