NEW GLARUS - Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park announce the Grand Opening of the Bison Trail. On Saturday, September 19, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at the trail entrance, which begins at the Kiosk located at the north end of the park along Wisconsin 69.

The newly completed Bison Trail loops primarily through the North Prairie and partly into the woods. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of a nine-year prairie restoration and also read 17 new interpretive signs describing the historical, cultural, and educational significance of prairies and prairie restoration. A bench at the Kiosk and a porch swing along the trail are restful stops and there is a life-size bison, which will delight the children.

The entire project was a collaborative effort between park staff, Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park, the Nelson-Knowles Stewardship Grants, Monroe Morning Optimists and the New Glarus Community Foundation. More information is available at www.newglaruswoods.org.
