Wisconsin historian to talk on impact of German

JANESVILLE - Randi Ramsden of the State Historical Society will present "German-Language Newspapers: A History of Wisconsin" at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at St. Mark Lutheran, 2921 Mount Zion, Janesville.

She will cover the history and impact of German-language newspapers in Wisconsin.

Ramsden is the national digital newspaper program coordinator at the Wisconsin Historical Society.

She received her master's degree in American studies from the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.

Born and raised in Germany but now living in Wisconsin, she studied in Mainz and Madison with a focus on American history, politics and literature.

Her article "Shaping Identity: The History of German-Language Newspapers in Wisconsin" was published in the fall 2016 issue of "Wisconsin Magazine of History."

The public is invited to attend this free program sponsored by the German Interest Group of Wisconsin.
