MONROE - Monroe School District will have seven students represent Monroe at the Diocesan Level Knowledge Contest on Saturday, March 3 in Sauk City, after winning the Knights of Columbus Knowledge Contest in November.
The Knights of Columbus math and spelling contest for fifth-graders was held at Abraham Lincoln, Northside, Parkside, and St. Victor's schools Nov. 28 through Dec. 8.
Grade 5
St. Victor's: There were a total of 13 entrants. Winners in math were Grant Gogin, first; Gabe Moon, second; and Anna Latimer, third. Winners in spelling were Lillian Edwards, first; Jared Cline, second; and Samuel Joseph Hughes, third.
Northside School: There were a total of 25 entrants. Winners in math were Cammi Ganshert, first; Jaime Zee, second; and Elliott Seefeldt, third. Winners in spelling were was Emily Eliasson, first; Calli Fiez, second; and Megan Meir, third.
Parkside School: There were a total of 32 entrants. Winners in math were Keon Butler, first; Nick Benkert, second; and Nathan Elliott, third. Winners in spelling were Isabella Zweifel, first; Breanne Wilhite, second; and Naomi Niesman, third.
Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy: There were a total of 16 entrants. Winners in math were Nick Schumacher, first; Xena Meighan, second; and Hailey Betthauser, third. Winners in spelling were Hayley Rielly, first; Erica Snider, second; and Amanda Santoro, third.
Keon Butler and Isabella Zweifel, both of Parkside, are eligible to compete at the regional contest. Building winners and all participants will receive certificates.

The winners in math were Sydney Mathiason, first; Grace Keith, second; and David Keegan, third. Spelling winners were Josette Ferguson, first; Britt Ramos, second; and Hunter Wild, third.
Grade 7
The winners in math were Silas Setterstrom, first; Kody Althaus, second; and Gavin Jordan, third. The winners in spelling were Jack Sabatke, first; Kelsie Pulvermacher, second; and Vanessa Meier, third.
Grade 8
The winner in math was Caitlynn Kamps, first.
The first place city-wide winners in math and spelling received an engraved plaque and are eligible to compete at the Diocesan Level Knowledge Contest March 3 in Sauk City, where they will compete against other winners from the southwestern part of the state. Diocesan winners will advance to the state level contest to be held in April.
