Winners named for KC spelling, math contest

MONROE - The Knights of Columbus Math and Spelling Contest for fifth-graders was held in Abraham Lincoln, Northside Parkside and St. Victor's Schools the week of Nov. 29. Building winners and all participants received certificates. The first-place city-wide winners in math and spelling will each receive an engraved plaque and are eligible to compete at the Diocesan Level Knowledge Contest in March where they will compete against other winners from the southwestern part of the state. Diocesan winners will advance to the state contest in April.

St. Victor's building winners are:

Math: First place, Brady Buol; second place, Ally Einbeck; and third place, Luz Larraga.

Spelling: First place, Alexander Schneeberger; second place, Julie Richardson; and third place, Emilee Borowski.

Northside building winners are:

Math: First place, Brayden Zettle; second place, Hallie Signer; and third place, Tatum Allbaugh.

Spelling: First place, Paulo Lucas; second place, Evan Studer; and third place, Ashley Placek.

Parkside building winners are:

Math: First place, Sydney Mathiason; second place, Bishop Yoder; and third place, Brian McKeon.

Spelling: First place, Josette Ferguson; second place, Kyli Wilke; and third place, Derek Schoen.

Abraham Lincoln building winners are:

Math: First place, David Keegan; second place, Joe Crubaugh; and third place, Grace Keith.

Spelling: First place, Madison Katzenberger; second place, Emma Guenther; and third place, Johnathon Ferry.

City-wide winners are:

Math: First place, David Keegan; second place, Sydney Mathiason; and third place, Joe Crubaugh.

Spelling: First place, Josette Ferguson; second place, Kyli Wilke; and third place, Alexander Schneeberger.

Other city-wide winners for grades six to eight are: Silas Setterstrom, Jack Sabatke, Caitlynn Kamps, Ellis Erb, Keyton Friske and Lane Shippy.
