Winners named at Animal Science Days

ELKHORN - The area Animal Science Days was held on Friday, June 22 at the Walworth County Fairgrounds.

The 4-H youth from Green County competed in the Dairy and Livestock judging events earn a spot to attend the State 4-H Dairy and Livestock contests later this summer.

The Junior Dairy Judging team placed fourth. The team was coached by Dennis Dorn and Danyel Hosto. Team members include: Rachel McCullough, Spring Grove Honest 4-H; Brian McCullough, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H; Clayton Mahlkuch, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H; Anna Smith, Clarence Bridge Pioneers 4-H; Katie Raskovic, New Glarus 4-H; Averey Marean, Cheese Country Clovers 4-H; Kelsey Cramer, Spring Grove Honest Workers 4-H; Jessica Crull, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H; and Briana Crull, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H. Crull placed sixth overall as an individual.

The Senior Dairy Judging team was coached by Kelsi Mayer and Mike Marean. Team members included Brooks Hendrickson, Dayton Dairylanders 4-H; John Klossner, New Glarus 4-H; Tess Zettle, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H; Bryce Zettle, Juda Jolly Juniors 4-H. Evan Dorn, New Glarus 4-H; and Ryan Smith, Washington Center 4-H. The team placed third. Klossner placed sixth overall; Hendrickson placed 11th overall; Zettle placed 18th overall; and Evan Dorn placed 21st overall.

The Senior Livestock team was coached by Alissa Grenawalt. The team was the first-place team and then placed eighth overall. Members were Rustin Alton, Hiawatha 4-H; Trevor Gorr, Jolly Mixers 4-H; Troy Gorr, Jolly Mixers 4-H; and Ryan Alton, Hiawatha 4-H. Rustin Alton placed fifth overall and Gorr placed sixth overall.

The Junior Livestock was coached by Alissa Grenawalt. Members included Reece Rufer, Hiawatha 4-H, and Traiten Gorr, Jolly Mixers 4-H.
