DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Land Conservation Department and Farm Service Agency, in cooperation with University of Wisconsin-Extension, are offering a free field day to address weed management issues and concerns.
UW Extension Weed Specialist Mark Renz will offer expert advice on the control of wild parsnip, thistle and other weeds.
He will also address mid-term management of smooth brome in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Monica Yates-Olsen, Lafayette County Farm Service Agency, will be on hand to offer guidance for weed management within the CRP contract guidelines.
There will be numerous printed fact sheets and other weed reference materials.
The field day will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Ellefson property, 10145 Lancaster Road, Darlington.
To get to the property, take Wisconsin 81 east from Darlington for 5.1 miles; turn right onto Lancaster Road; and continue for 0.7 miles to the field day site.
