Wedding: Schlapbach-Mendiola

Heidi Schlapbach and Michael Mendiola were united in marriage on July 5, 2008. Heidi is the daughter of Kenneth and Nicolette Schlapbach, and the granddaughter of Hans and Dorothy Schlapbach, all of Albany. Michael is the son of Arturo and Leonida Mendiola, of Rogers, Minnesota.

The 4:30 p.m. ceremony took place at the Anoka County Courthouse in Anoka, Minn., and was officiated by Judge Tammi A. Fredrickson of the 10th Judicial Court District. A dinner reception followed at the Canyon Grille Restaurant, in Coon Rapids, Minn.

The witnesses were Iris Busjahn, Madison, best friend of the bride and Sarah Necklen, Maple Grove, Minn., best friend of the groom. The wedding was attended by the parents of both the bride and the groom, and a cousin of the bride and family.

The bride wore a white eyelet print sundress and carried a bouquet of white roses. The groom and the son of the bride wore periwinkle blue dress shirts and khaki pants.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Albany High School. She is employed by the Metropolitan Transit in Minneapolis, Minn., where she works as a Civil Engineering Intern on the Northstar Commuter Rail project. She is also a 2008 graduate of Dunwoody College of Technology.

The groom is a 1991 graduate of Anoka High School and a 1996 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He is employed by MSA Professional Services, in Oakdale, Minn., as a project manager.

The couple hopes to take a honeymoon trip next winter to Chile, and currently reside in Coon Rapids, Minn.
