On April 30, 1944, a stunning young Wisconsin couple, Rose and Duane Beach, got married. The date wasn't a coincidence but rather a way to honor Rose's parents, Emma and Alfred Glanzmann, who married the same day in 1917. When Rose's granddaughter Jessica Bohms and her fiance, Samuel Partington, started planning their wedding, they already knew the date.
However, Jessica had a lot more in mind. She reimagined her grandmother Rose's dress and wore Rose's ring and wedding day pearls. She was determined to celebrate the wedding on April 30, 2017, a hundred years after her great-grandparents tied the knot and 73 years after her grandparents did.
Bohms and Partington were married April 30, 2017, at the Wisconsin State Capitol, surrounded by a handful of close family and friends. They flipped a 1917 silver half-dollar to decide who would recite their vows first, a nod to her great-grandparents. At the close of the ceremony, the mother of the bride and the mother and sister of the groom sent off the couple by serenading them with their favorite song.
In attendance were: the bride's maternal grandparents, Rose and Duane Beach of Monroe; mother of the bride, Janet Beach of Belleville; father of the bride, Gene Bohms of Belleville; paternal grandmother of the groom, Shirley Mooney of Milton; mother of the groom, Christina (Scott) Partington of South Milwaukee; father of the groom, Mike (Janis) Partington of Noblesville, Indiana; siblings; many aunts and uncles; and a handful of the couple's close friends.
The couple look forward to celebrating more with their family and friends at their delayed reception in September.
