Wedding: Becker-Retzlaff

Shawn and Mindy Becker
Mindy Lynn Retzlaff and Shawn Fredrick Becker were united in marriage on June 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena. The Rev. Rick Bader officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Rick and Margie Retzlaff of Lena, and the granddaughter of Bob and Lois Ballard and the late Alvin and Flourine Retzlaff. The groom is the son of Bill and Micki Becker and the late Marcene Becker of Lena. He is the grandson of Bob and Ellie Becker and the late Marvin Stewart and Donna Mae Stewart.

The matron of honor was Sarah Siefken of Forreston. Bridesmaids were Danialle Stewart of Pearl City, cousin of the groom; Erica Kornfeind of Rockford; Beth Smith of Madison; and Paige Becker of Fayetteville, N.C., sister-in-law of the groom.

The best man was Stuart Becker of Fayetteville, N.C., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Troy Tiesman of Winslow; Dan Reed of Winslow; Josh Retzlaff of Orangeville, brother of the bride; and Jayson Dittmar of Lena.

Assisting with the wedding were ushers Chris Reinders of Freeport, Dan Bawinkel of Freeport, Jim Bawinkel of Freeport, and Matt Brinkmeier of Lena. Host and hostess was Al and Bonnie Bawinkel of Freeport. Wedding party assistant was Kristin Tiesman of Winslow. Guest book attendants were Jaimee Edler of New Glarus, and Adrienne Edler of Tempe, Ariz., both step-sisters of the groom. Candle lighter for the ceremony was Mya Holland of Lena, step-sister of the groom.

A reception was held following the wedding at the Lena Community Center. The newlyweds went to Maine for their honeymoon. They reside at their home in Lena, which they purchased late last year.

The bride, a 2001 graduate of Lena-Winslow High School and 2003 graduate of Highland Community College, graduated in 2006 from Northern Illinois University with a degree in art and communications. She works for M45 Marketing Services in Freeport.

The groom graduated in 2004 from Lena-Winslow High School. He works for Monroe Truck Equipment in Monroe.
