ROCKFORD, Ill. - Rose Weckerly, a 2010 Monroe High School graduate, was awarded a $500 scholarship through the Mid-West Dairymen's Company.
Weckerly also received a $500 scholarship last year and has now received the maximum of $1,000 available through the Mid-West Scholarship Program.
Weckerly attended the University of Wisconsin-Richland and is now attending UW-Platteville for agri-business.
In high school, Weckerly was the wrestling manager for two years, played volleyball for two years and was a venture crew member for three years. She was an active Girl Scout for seven years and is a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She has worked with the Apostolate to the Handicap program.
Growing up on a dairy farm, Weckerly worked on her family farm keeping cow records, feeding calves and milking cows. She hopes to return home to the family farm or enter the field of agri-business after graduation.
