MONTICELLO - Washington Reformation United Church of Christ will hold its second annual Washington Music Fest from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at the church, approximately eight miles west of Monticello off County C on Church Road.
The festival was started last year to commemorate the raising of the church on this site on July 4, 1876. Historical church records tell of a celebration held that first year with music and food staged on the new church floor as the walls were not up yet. This tradition of food and music has continued all these years.
A wide variety of music is scheduled, including country, bluegrass, old time and a little rock'n roll. Acts include The Greenfield Brothers, Brianna Hardyman, Greg Anderson, Styles Junction and their own "Pew People" with a special appearance by Bill Gempler, formerly of Monticello. A suggested $5 donation is $5. For more information, call the church at (608) 938-4550.
