Waelti is library presenter April 23

ARGYLE — In cooperation with Lafayette County’s “Money Smart Month,” the Argyle Public Library will be presenting “The Role of Government Under Capitalism” at 6 p.m. April 23 at the library, upstairs community room, 401 E. Milwaukee St. The speaker will be John Waelti, economist and Monroe Times columnist.   

Waelti was born and raised on a dairy farm in Monroe, was on the agricultural economics faculty of University of Minnesota, taking leave to serve as economic advisor to assistant secretary of the Army in Washington D.C.  He also served as a visiting professor to University of Nairobi, Kenya, and as head of the Department of Agricultural Economics in New Mexico State University and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
