Volunteers needed to provide tax help

MONROE - Volunteers are needed at Monroe and Brodhead VITA and AARP TCE (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/American Association of Retired Persons Tax Counseling for the Elderly) program sites, which provide free assistance for completing tax returns for low to moderate income and elderly people.

People who enjoy helping people, working with numbers and have a good eye for detail are encouraged to volunteer. It's helpful if volunteers are comfortable working on a computer and convenient, but not necessary, if they have tax experience. Volunteers must attend a total of four days of free program training. Computers and software are provided.

Training dates are Monday and Jan. 13, Jan. 18 and Jan. 26. The tax preparation season consists of one or two days each week from February until April 15.
