MONROE - First Baptist Church is having Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3 to Aug. 7 at the church, 853 31st Ave. The school is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Children should bring pennies for the penny parade (pennies will be given to an orphanage in Madagascar). Transportation is available for anyone who needs a ride.

There will be a carnival for children and parents on the last night. The carnival will include cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, Moon Walk and other booths where the children can win prizes and candy.
