DARLINGTON - As preserving season is upon us, UW-Extension has recently announced that the Wisconsin Safe Food Preservation Series 2008 is now available through your local UW-Extension office. Barbara Ingham, professor and food science extension specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW-Extension is the author of the series of booklets. Publications on freezing fruits and vegetables, canning fruits and vegetables, canning salsa, tomatoes, pickles, meat, and many others are available. The cost of the booklets is $2 each.
Also, bring the dial gauge for your canner in to the UW-Extension office to have it tested for safety in food preservation.
