MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center has multiple upcoming shows and exhibits open to the public.
Musing, Memories, and Memories by Jay Handy
Printmaker Jay Handy will be on exhibit in the Wellington/Muranyi Galleries from Friday, Feb. 3, through Friday, March 31.
Connecting the community to art through this interactive exhibit and using his innovative approach to printmaking, Handy has created art pieces from photos submitted by residents of Green County. This exhibit will feature photos from The Green County Historical Society, The Monticello Historical Society, The National Cheese Making Association, and more.
Handy specializes in etching and chine collé to create the signature dreamlike quality that permeates his work. From the Harvard Business School to Lesley University College of Art and Design, the winding road he traveled to arrive at his current position as a passionate and prolific artist imbues his art with the characteristic sense of tension and nostalgia his work is known for. Jay resides in Madison, where he continues to weave memories into preserved moments in time.
The opening reception of the exhibit will be Feb. 3 from 5-7 p.m.
