United Church of Christ plans holiday services starting Christmas Eve

MONROE - Four Christmas Eve services are planned for 4, 5, 7 and 9 p.m. Dec. 24 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1724 14th St., Monroe.

The 4 p.m. service will be at St. Clare Friedensheim Chapel; all other services will be held in the church sanctuary.

The 5 p.m. family service will feature a puppet show entitled "Someone is Coming to Our House" by Gail Peterson and edited by Gary Neuenschwander. The 7 p.m. service will be a communion and candlelight service with music by Circle of Friends. The 9 p.m. service will be a candlelight service with music by the Sanctuary Choir. All events are open to the public.

A "Come As You Are" service is planned for 9 a.m. Dec. 25 in the church sanctuary. There will be no 8 a.m. service at the church and no 10:30 a.m. service at St. Clare Friedensheim that day.

There will be a 9 a.m. service Jan. 1 at the church and a 10:30 a.m. service at St. Clare Friedensheim. There will be no 8 a.m. service.

There will be no Faith Zone Sunday school, preschool or nursery service on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The regular schedule will resume on Jan. 8.
