MONROE - A cantata, "Follow the Star, Follow the King", will be presented at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe.
The scriptures that tell the Advent and Christmas story are punctuated with themes of light. The cantata is a journey from spiritual darkness to light, culminating in the birth of Jesus.
It is a blend of scriptures, carols and original new music which capture the mystery and majesty of the season.
Those participating are Bob Ambrose, Susan Anderson, Bobbie Bernet, Hans Bernet, Dennis Cappel, Larry Coffey, Natalie Dillon, Tracy Dillon, Katie Doyle, Tina Duemler, Nan Edmunds, Jonna Heins, Judy Knutson, Cindi Miller, Daryl Miller, Jeri Miller, Jo Ellen Moser, Paul Nelson, Kathy Reffue, Brad Richardson, Marilyn Sandin-Ross, Jacob Scherer, Carol Soden, and George Vernon. The choir is accompanied by Erica Hegi and directed by Maynard Heins. The church is located at 2707 5th St., Monroe, and is handicapped accessible.
