ALBANY - Two thank-you baskets with goodies and American flags in them were presented to Chris Beer and Clayton Ruegsegger Saturday at the Veterans Appreciation Dinner held at the Albany Lions Club. About 200 people attended.

Chris Beer is the Green County veterans benefit counselor, and Clayton Ruegsegger is the county's veteran services officer. Both honorees help veterans navigate the VA system.

The presentations, called Random Gifts of Thanks, were from the members of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Monroe. The gifts go to people of integrity, generosity and good will whose works have not been recognized before.

The program is chaired by Maria Johnson from St. Andrew's. Accompanying her were John Gillespie and Diana Vance, both from St. Andrew's. The honorees were selected by the members of St. Andrew's. Their priest, Rev. Lawrance Glenn, is a veteran but was ill and could not make the presentation.

The baskets contained coffee, tea, outdoor jackets, boot cleaner, petit fours, mugs and cups with a patriotic design.
