Trees available for fall planting

MONROE — Trees can be ordered now for the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department Fall Terrace Tree planting. There are three varieties of trees still available for homeowners to purchase. There is a limited number available that have been reserved with the nursery. 

American Sentry Linden — grows 50 to 60 feet tall and cost is $78 — three still available. Regal Prince Oak — grows to 50 feet tall and cost is $74 — four still available. Emerald Lustre Maple — grows to 50 to 60 feet tall and cost is $75 — three still available.  Cost for all the trees is one half the regular cost. The other half is being covered with a 2019 Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant. The price includes: planting, staking, mulching, fertilizing and watering the tree at planting time. The homeowner is also given information from the nursery on care after planting. The trees are guaranteed for one year and will be replaced at no cost. Orders will be taken up to Monday, Oct. 7 and planting will begin the week of Oct. 21. Orders can be made at the Park & Rec office, 1110 18th Ave. Call the office with questions, 608-329-2460.
