MONROE - The city is accepting orders for spring tree planting through April 6. Planting will begin the week of April 23.

A limited number of each type of tree have been reserved with the nursery. The cost for all the trees except the emerald lustre maple is half the regular cost of the tree. The other half is being covered with a 2018 Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant. Maple trees are not eligible for grant funding due to the high population of maple species in Monroe.

Available trees are: London plane tree, Turkish hazelnut, American sentry linden, regal prince oak, skyline honey locust and emerald lustre maple.

Low-growing varieties available are Cleveland select pear and ivory silk Japanese lilac.
