MONTICELLO - Dr. Dodge, the well-known psychic doctor from the Albany area, will be discussed by county historians John Oschner and Tom Fey at the Thursday, Jan. 27 meeting of the Monticello Historical Society. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Zwingli Church in Monticello; the discussion is scheduled to start shortly after 7 p.m.
Much of the program will be based on an interview taped in 1958 by Roger Elmer and his uncle John Brandt, age 48 at the time. Dr. Dodge reportedly cured patients by going into a trance and then prescribing special poultices and medicines with his eyes closed and twining a lock of the patient's hair in his left hand.
In the 1880s, when Dr. Dodge practiced, Brandt was his 10-year-old house boy; on the interview tape, he testifies to witnessing amazing miracles.
