MONROE — The 14th annual food drive sponsored by the the Monroe Trailblazers Pathfinder club took place in early November. The youth club for the Seventh day Adventist church scattered throughout the town of Monroe for the drive.
The average collection was about 2,400 pounds of food. This year marked a new record at 2,890 pounds of food.
The week before the food drive Farm & Fleet donated 2,000 bags. Each bag has a note stapled to it explaining about the food drive for the food pantry and a phone number to call with questions.
The Pathfinder club and members of the Monroe SDA church divided into teams and placed a bag on every house possible Nov. 7. One week later, on Nov. 14, the same teams went out and collected the bags of non-perishable food. The food was then taken to the local food pantry and weighed.
