Tractor safety course planned

DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County UW-Extension office has joined with the Lafayette County Sheriff to sponsor the tractor and machinery safety course.

The sessions will be:

- First class: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, at the First Baking Center, community room, in Darlington.

- Second session: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 19, Lafayette county courthouse.

- Third session: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, First Banking Center, Darlington.

- Fourth session: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 26, Argyle High School Cafeteria.

- Fifth Session: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, Lafayette County courthouse.

- Sixth session: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, Lafayette County fairgrounds (practice rides).

- Seventh session: 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 7, Lafayette County fairgrounds (practice ride).

- Eighth session: 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday April, 9, Lafayette County fairgrounds.

Sheriff's deputies, ag educators, machinery dealers and a variety of other people working in agriculture will be working together to provide valuable safety training. Anyone under the age of 16, who is employed on a farm, even family members, must have a tractor and machinery safety certification course in order to operate farm machinery on any public roadways in Wisconsin. The classes are for 12 to 16 years of age. The cost Is $30. Make checks payable to U-W Extension Lafayette county.
