BRODHEAD - To give you and your family a chance to experience a working farm, the Brodhead Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring "Tour the Farms Day" from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on May 7. Four Brodhead area farms will be opening their farms to the public on that day.
The days when mom, dad and the kids packed up each weekend and went to visit the grandparents on their small family farm are long gone for most American families.
Few city dwellers have ever visited a working farm. Saturday, May 7, is your chance to change this.
When you get to Brodhead, start your journey at Tinker's Garden in the center of town on the West Exchange Street Square to vote on your favorite decorated wooden rooster and pick-up a map to the participating farms. They include:
n The farm farthest north is Kinkoona Farm located 6 miles northeast of Brodhead. It can be found at 16734 W Dorner Rd, phone (608) 897-3983. Kinkoona Farm is home to a permaculture sheep farm that specializes in wool products and provides specialized day camp opportunities in the summer.
