LENA - Visitors can tour the Lena Opera House as seen recently in the American Pickers television show on the History Channel. The Opera House was built in 1879 and was the center of the town's activities until it was closed in 1938. The Opera House has been restored to its original condition and features movie posters and many items of local interest.
A bake sale and reception will also be held during the tours, 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at 136 Main St., Lena, Ill.
The events are sponsored by the Lena Beautification Committee, dedicated to promoting and making the city of Lena a beautiful place to live and visit. All of the proceeds will be used to purchase plants and the upkeep and maintenance of planters in the downtown area.
