Threshing Show and Antique Display turns 40

FREEPORT - The 40th annual Threshing Show and Antique Display will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, Saturday , Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds. This is "the Freeport Show" that has normally been held the last week-end in July.

The dates were changed due to the Stephenson County Fair dates changing from August to July.

The September Threshing Show will feature horses and horse-powered equipment. The featured engine in gasoline alley will be Rawleigh and Rawleigh-Schryer Engines. The usual schedule of events includes, daily parades at 1 p.m. and the crowning of the Show Queen on Saturday at the parade. Tractor pulls will be held on Friday night and Saturday afternoon after the parade. The horse pull will be on Saturday evening one half hour after the tractor pulls are finished. Sunday afternoon will feature lawn mower races in front of the grandstand. Threshing will still be held daily; other working demonstrations, the flea market and food will also be available.
