MONROE - The Jimmys are back in Monroe Aug. 19 for the sixth and final show of this summer's free Concerts on the Square series.
The performance is slated for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the north side of the Square. The concerts are sponsored by Monroe Main Street and underwritten with major funding from the Monroe Fund, Monroe Clinic and Openrange. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.
The Jimmys entertain crowds with rhythm and blues. Leader Jimmy Voegeli's antics of athleticism on piano and B-3 Hammond organ is part of The Jimmys' blues landscape.
Voegli played for 15 years with West Side Andy and Mel Ford Band.
Box lunches will be available at Cafe Claudeen's, Turner Hall, Pancho and Lefty's and the Garden Deli. Ruf's Confectionery will also be open during the concerts. All are located on or near the Square. Special Olympics volunteers will be selling popcorn as a fundraiser. Bartels Pub and Ruf's provide the popcorn to the group.
Beverages will be available at a beer tent sponsored by the Green County Humane Society.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will move to Turner Hall located two blocks south of the Square.
A sign announcing the move will be posted on the Square and announced on WEKZ.
Information is available by calling Karen Stollenwerk, concert chairman, at 328-1767.
