MONROE — New business on the square downtown Monroe. “Home Decor Shack” on the south side of the square was started by Judy Pink. Her hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Judy has two degrees, one in interior design and the second in business management, so she started the store to put both of her certificates to use. She also used to have an antique booth in Beloit. Pink said she’s always liked Monroe’s square and thought she would enjoy having a business downtown.

Pink would like to help those who are not sure how to decorate and design certain aspects of their homes. There’s a little something for everyone in the store.

“Because it’s my passion. Trying to get others like young kids starting out or families that want a pretty home or don’t quite know how to make it pretty, I offer my expertise,” Pink said.

The store consists of art work by eight different local artists, decor, furniture and trinkets. Pink mentioned she has new, old, recycled, upcycled, and antique merchandise. She said most of her merchandise is budget friendly other than the antiques.

“There’s a huge variety here, whether it’s farm house, elegant, or whatever your style might be. I hope they come in here and go ‘wow,’” Pink said.

There is also a little section of the store where she allows her grandson to sell skateboarding apparel that he designed himself and advertise skateboarding lessons.

“My whole purpose of this is to be unique. I don’t want to be like any other store. That is my whole thought process of having this,” Pink said.
