MONROE - Volunteers are needed at Monroe and Brodhead for the volunteer Income Tax Assistance/American Association of Retired Persons Tax Counseling for the Elderly program sites that provide free assistance completing tax returns for low to moderate-income and elderly persons.
Volunteers should enjoy helping people and working with numbers and have a good eye for detail. It is helpful if volunteers are comfortable working on a computer, and convenient, but not necessary, if they have tax experience. Volunteers attend free program training. Computers and software are provided. Training dates are Jan. 3, 10, 17, 19 and 24. The tax preparation season consists of one or two days each week beginning the first week in February, through March, and ending by April 15.
