LENA - Lena Area Special Event Runners will be helping as downtown Lena hosts the 24th annual Taste of Lena from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
This year, the Taste of Lena will include many fun-filled activities for the whole family.
The Community Bank Food Village will showcase many area restaurants and food vendors, including the Rafters Restaurant Catering and Events, Route 20 Bar and Grill, Sullivan's Foods, AJ's Lena Maid Meats, Huron Market, Herme's Kettle Corn, Bench Warmer's Cheese Curds, Mulligan's Bar & Grill, Salem Church, RNL Enterprises, Oma Luf's, Take It Or Leave It and Stumpy's BBQ.
Twisted Metal and the Lena Lions Club will host the car show. Classes for the show and their sponsors include GM Class, Mopar Class, Ford Class, Best in Show per category, Best Interior Class and Best Paint. Entries can be taken the day of the show or by calling Dawn Thyberg at 815-541-0228. Goody bags will be given to the first 100 entries.
The headline act on the entertainment stage, located close to the Lena Brewing Company, will be Corey Cox.
The Lena Lions Club will have a booth at the event to collect items to help homeless veterans of northern Illinois. The Lions will be collecting: kitchen items such as pots, pans, dinnerware and utensils; bath items such as towels, washcloths and shower curtains; bedroom items such as sheets, pillows and blankets; cleaning supplies such as brooms, mops, vacuums, soaps, laundry detergents, toilet paper, lamps and light bulbs; and toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo.
Cash will also be accepted, with all donations going straight to veterans' needs.
